 Meet HG 

We're a Massachusetts nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing financial, HR, and operational support for Harvard University's international activities so that faculty, staff, and scholars can focus on research and programs. Established as Harvard Global Research and Support Services, Inc., you also may hear us referred to as "Harvard Global" or "HG." Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, we operate overseas entities on behalf of several Harvard Schools, centers, and departments.

##  Providing Harvard's Administrative Infrastructure—Overseas 

Our mission is to provide common operational and administrative structures, processes, and tools to support the University’s international research projects, programs, and offices. As a standalone nonprofit and Harvard University affiliate, we offer the best of both worlds, working closely with in-country vendors and Harvard’s central offices to align country-specific regulations with Harvard’s financial and HR policies, systems, and controls.

Whether you need to receive and manage gifts and grants, employ and pay individuals, or manage entities and office space abroad, we provide a centralized approach to international operations and compliance.

**Our promise:**

- Faculty and administrators control academic and programmatic activities.
- We manage overseas compliance and administrative operations, including banking, currency conversion, tax withholding, and payments to vendors and individuals.
- We operate in accordance with Harvard’s values, requirements, and systems. Our financial and HR systems integrate with Harvard University's and require minimal changes to existing business processes.
- We provide excellent customer service to meet faculty, administrator, and employee needs.
- We stay current and compliant with each country’s requirements so you don’t have to worry about them.

### Corporate Information & Harvard Affiliation 

 

Founded in February 2012 by the President and Fellows of Harvard College (P&F), Harvard Global Research and Support Services, Inc. is a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation in the US under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code with principal offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We're affiliated with [**Harvard Global Support Services**](https://www.globalsupport.harvard.edu/) (GSS) and partner with Harvard University's [**Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs**](https://worldwide.harvard.edu/our-work/office-of-the-vice-provost-for-international-affairs/).

Our service offerings are managed by our officers and staff, with assistance from contracted service providers. We also collaborate with Harvard University on certain services, including client relations support from GSS, grant management with the Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP), gift administration with the Office of Gift Administration (OGA), and participation in Harvard University benefits and retirement plans.

The sole Member of Harvard Global is the Provost of Harvard University. The Provost appoints the Board of Directors.
