Enabling Harvard's Data Security and Privacy Compliance
Established in 2020, Harvard Global Research Support Centre Ireland DAC (HG Ireland) serves as Harvard University’s authorized representative in the EU to maintain compliance with GDPR. GDPR requires legal representation in the EU for organizations that collect and use data within the scope of the regulation. The regulation applies to Harvard’s European Economic Area (EEA)-based affiliates, offices, and operations, as well as Harvard’s activities outside the EEA that impact the personal data of individuals located in the EEA.

Currently, GDPR representation is the only service our Irish entity provides to Harvard University. We’re exploring other opportunities in Ireland and the EU to support Harvard’s activities and research in region.

Protecting Data and Enabling Compliance for Information Processing
Harvard University recognizes the importance of upholding regulations, guidelines, and best practices regarding individuals’ privacy rights and how their personal data is handled. HG Ireland serves as the University’s representative in the EU and enables Harvard to maintain compliance with GDPR. GDPR applies to Harvard’s European Economic Area-based affiliates, offices, and operations, as well as Harvard’s activities outside the EEA that impact the personal data of individuals located in the EEA.
